Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT)
Disturbed by the widespread prevalence of smoking amongst youngsters, the students of EMDI (India) initiated a unique social movement branded as Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT). Directed at impressionable teenagers within the age group of 14-19 years, SWAT’s aim is to dissuade them from picking up this bad habit. From Smoke Free Concerts to Signature Campaigns, College Contact Programmes and Bike Rallies to Candle Walks, the movement has established its presence in three cities: Mumbai, Bangalore and Pune. To further fortify the message, youth icons and Sports & Bollywood celebrities like Rahul Dravid, Syed Kirmani, Venkatesh Prasad, Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff and Sunidhi Chauhan went on record with their solidarity with SWAT.
